Michelle and Chris (who managed to dodge the camera) represented The Firehouse Group at the Chamber Means Business Expo, held at Rotherham United’s New York Stadium yesterday.

The event organised by The Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce was fantastic and full of activity from the moment the doors opened. Businesses from across the region came together to network, showcase their work, and exchange ideas — and it was great to be part of such a lively and supportive environment again.

For us, the day was about more than just setting up a stand. Michelle and Chris spent time reconnecting with familiar faces, catching up with long-standing contacts, and introducing The Firehouse Group to plenty of new people. It’s always a pleasure to hear about the exciting projects other businesses are working on and to have the chance to talk about how fire safety fits into the bigger picture of keeping workplaces running smoothly.

Our display gave visitors a snapshot of what we do, and it sparked some really valuable conversations. Topics ranged from the importance of fire extinguishers being adequately serviced to the role of staff training in making sure people feel confident in the event of an emergency. It was encouraging to see how engaged businesses are with fire safety and how much they value keeping their teams and premises protected.

As fire safety specialists, we know that keeping on top of regulations can sometimes feel overwhelming. That’s why we aim to make these conversations straightforward — helping businesses meet their legal requirements while also reassuring them that the proper measures are in place.

Answering questions and concerns raised by other business owners helps us understand where support is needed most, and we always come away with fresh ideas on how we can make a difference.
